As far as is known, what is the risk of progression of an asymptomatic retinal detachment?

Most studies suggest that about one in ten of these detachments will progress within the period of follow-up. This period of follow-up is usually up to five years, but not all patients within the studies have been followed up for that period. From this information it is not possible to say what the lifetime risk of progression is.
