The
injection of steroids inside the eye is an exciting new development
which is undergoing research at present. To a certain extent
this remains an experimental treatment and the results and
complications are not as yet fully understood.
In many cases the waterlogging of the retina dries up and
in some the vision of treated eyes improves. The downside
of an injection with steroid into the eye is that the effect
may only be temporary may wear off in 3-9 months. It is possible
to repeat the injection but this would only be considered
if vision had been found to improve as a result of having
the first injection.
